Calendaring
Fantastical (from Flexibits)
Ever wished that you could create a Zoom meeting right from the Calendar app on your Mac? Or that you could look at your schedule quarter by quarter?
Well, Fantastical Premium gives you that power and much more:
- 10 days weather forecast
- Google Meet, Zoom, Webex and MS teams support
- Meeting polls and availabilities
You can try Fantastical Premium for free for 14 days using my affiliate link:
Cloud backup
Backblaze
How much is your data worth? A lot, I guess, and probably much more than what’s currently sitting in your bank account, right?
What if I told you that you could safely (and automatically) backup your Mac’s precious data (and everything stored on all external hard drives connected to it) for less than 2 Venti Americano per month.
And the best part is that you can create your own encryption key, making it impossible for anyone (including Backblaze) to access your data.
Personally, I cannot imagine not using Backblaze which protects about 3.6 TB of my own business and personal data.
Starting at just $9 per month or $99 per year, you get by default 30-day version history, which you can bump to a full year in a single click.
Try it for free for 15 days using my affiliate link.
PS: If your business is based in the EU, you can choose to store your cloud backup in a datacenter located in the Netherlands (just click on the “Region” menu under the signup form).
Designs & mockups
Mediamodifier
Whenever I need to quickly create a mockup for a course or an ebook, Mediamodifier is my goto resource of choice.
They have all the Apple devices in addition to mockup designs for books, CDs and DVDs.
Their templates are very easy to customise and all my mockups are saved in my personal library for easy retrieval and update.

Domain names
Hover
I’ve already purchased 20 domains with Hover, including macpreneur(dot)com.
No sleazy upsell or cross-sell tactics (unlike some of its competitors) and WHOIS privacy is included in the price.

Email marketing
ConvertKit
I’ve been using ConverKit since December 2015 and it has made my email marketing life so much easier.
Thanks to tags, it’s dead easy to segment my audience, allowing me to get an average open rate of almost 80% and a click rate of 4.5% (May 2023 data).
You can use ConvertKit to create beautiful landing pages and forms, craft email sequences and funnels in a visual way and even sell digital products and subscription.
And you can automate it out the wazoo, with rules as well as built-in integration with other tools like SamCart, Teachable and even extensive Zapier support.
If you have less than 300 subscribers, you can use the basic features for free for as long as you want then you can upgrade to the Creator plan for $15/month or $108/year if you want more.
Pricing gently grows with the number of subscribers you have.
Live streaming
Ecamm Live
This tool allows me to produce the Macpreneur podcast in record time.
Being able to seamlessly integrate the intro and outro while recording an episode, I don’t need to edit it as much in post-production, which saves me a ton of time.
Unlike similar tools, Ecamm Live has been developed exclusively for Macs, making it a joy to use.
And if you have a StreamDeck, switching scenes and cameras simply requires pressing the right button.
You can try it for free for 14 days then either choose the Standard plan ($20/month or $192/year) or the Pro plan ($40/month or $384/year).
Online courses
Teachable
If you haven’t chosen a platform to host your future online courses, then you should definitely consider Teachable.
The reason I decided to use Teachable is that it handles all the tax aspects for me.
Since Teachable acts as the Merchant Of Record (MOR), I don’t need to create a separate invoice for each and every student who makes a purchase from my online school.
And the cherry on top is that I can also sell digital downloads (e-books, PDFs, …) and online coaching sessions.
You can get a $25 credit when starting a 14-day free trial (no credit card required) by using my referral link.
You can test all the “Professional” plan’s features for 2 weeks and if you don’t like it, Teachable will automatically switch you back to a free plan (limited to 10 students).
Project management
Todoist
I’m using Todoist since 2014 and it has helped me keep track of most of my tasks and projects both on the personal and professional sides of things.
You can try it for free to track 5 projects then upgrade to the Pro plan for just $5 per month.
Video/podcast editing and transcription
Descript
Imagine being able to edit a video or a podcast episode simply by deleting or correcting text in a word processor.
And imagine removing all your “ums” and “uhs” (an a bunch of other filler words) in 2 clicks.
Well, that’s exactly what Descript allows me to do and much more:
- Export the transcript
- Create chapter markers
- Create social media clips
- Improve the sound quality
- Use extremely natural synthetic voices (that’s how I made the intro and outro for Macpreneur 🙂 )
And it can also be used as an intermediary step before making some finishing touches in Pro Tools, Final Cut Pro, Da Vinci Resolve and various Adobe Apps.
You can try it for free and get 1 hour of transcription per month.
The Creator plan ($12/month) gives you 10 hours of transcription while the Pro plan ($24/month) bumps it up to 30 hours.
Website analytics (Privacy-preserving & GDPR-compliant)
Fathom Analytics
Whether you’re based in the EU or not, the GDPR has made the life of all Internet marketers much more complicated.
Well, did you know that the EU-US Privacy Shield became invalid in July 2020?
And that, as a consequence, using Google Analytics (without a technically difficult adaptation) is therefore outlawed in many EU jurisdictions?
That’s where Fathom Analytics comes in by providing useful metrics about our website visitors (even the EU residents) while still being compliant with GDPR.
Pricing starts at $14/month for 100,000 monthly page views.
You can try Fathom Analytics for free during 30 days and even get a $10 credit when using my affiliate link.
